Using Nascar Pools Online – Pool Setup

Quite a bit has changed on Nascar Pools Online for this coming season, as we’ve added more customization options so the pool creation is a little more involved than in previous seasons.  We’ve put together some quick step by step instructions to help you get started setting up your fantasy Nascar pool on the site.  As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to send us a message.

Creating Your League

  1. Sign-Up and/or Login to the site.
  2. Go to the Create Pool page and give your pool a name, a pool ID and a password. The ID and password will be used by your entrants to join the pool once they’ve registered.
  3. If you have a valid coupon code, enter it here, and it will be applied when your pool fee is calculated.

You should now be on the pool home page, which will have some instructions on what to do next.

Pool Settings

  1. Select the type of pool you want to run and the duration of the pool. It defaults to the entire season. Update the main settings, and another tab will show up with Pick options.
  2. Choose your Pool Grouping first, as some of the other options depend on which you choose.
  3. Decide whether you want to score by the Car or the Driver. Pick options will be displayed by drivers name, and car numbers and makes depending on which you choose.
  4. The weekly deadline is used for both race picks in Pick’em pools, and trades in season long pools. If you plan to include qualifying bonuses in your scoring, use one of the qualifying options.
  5. If you are using one of the default pool types (Salary, Box, Pick’em and Pick One) you can allow teams to be selected online.  You don’t have to, but you do have that option.
  6. Once you are satisfied with your pick settings, you can update, and move on to scoring or group/salary settings.

Scoring Settings

  1. Select the base scoring method you want use first, as other options will depend on which you choose.
  2. Add your bonus points, keeping in mind that Finish scored pools bonuses need to be negative numbers.
  3. Decide whether you want a Chase Reset and the reset type, and if you will award bonus points for regular season position or driver or team wins, and how many points each position or win should be worth.
  4. You will be able to update the scoring settings once your pool is activated, so it’s not as imperative that you get them perfect before adding entries.

Groups/Salaries

  1. Choose whether to start with our default groups, or from scratch. Our default is 7 groups of 5 cars or drivers each, so if you’re planning on using less than 7 groups, choose the custom option.
  2. If using salaries, move the sliders to the desired salary for each driver, and then submit.
  3. If using groups, drag and drop the desired car/driver into the dark grey box in the appropriate group.
  4. If you want to have entrants select more than 1 car or driver from a group, click the up arrow to get to the desired number.
  5. Since these settings determine how entries are created, you are unable to modify these selections once you’ve activated your pool.

Activation/Invites

  1. Once your settings are all in order, choose the Activate pool option from the Manager menu.
  2. Once your pool is Active, go to the Manager Tools page, and send invites to all of the members of your pool from last season (this will only work for online pools, and entries that were assigned an owner in offline pools).

Hopefully that helps you get started on getting your league up and running on the site.  We will add a follow-up post in the near future with how to add your teams, and work your way around managing your pool now that it’s set up.
